A 2014 Harvard study found that people who read e-books on tablets took longer to fall asleep than those who read an actual printed book. This is because blue light interferes with our body’s production of melatonin, the sleep hormone responsible for signalling our brain to rest.
Getting enough quality sleep is crucial for one’s overall well-being. It’s when our cells repair and rejuvenate. Lack of sleep is the leading cause of major diseases these days, including heart ailments, diabetes, and obesity.
3. Too much screen time can cause long-term vision problems
Digital eyestrain is affecting many people nowadays, and what’s alarming is that it’s even prevalent among young children. Staring at screens for long periods causes eye strain, blurred vision, dryness, and irritation. In the worst cases, it could even lead to severe and long-term vision defects.
To protect your precious vision, limit your screen time per day, and make sure that all electronic devices are turned off before bedtime.
